Arrival Day!

The group's travel to La Romana was safe and pleasantly uneventful.  Everything so far has gone off without a hitch and we are settling in to the Mission House and enjoying the superb hospitality of Moises and the staff, which includes volunteer Hospitality Coordinator Cyndi.  After dinner, Cyndi gave us a thorough orientation talk to prepare us for our week

Each evening a member of our team is doing a write-up for the blog.  Today's thoughts are from Josh Melton.

So today we got up and were at the airport at 5 am, which felt like 4 am because of the time change.  We flew out of Huntsville and laid over in Atlanta for an hour, then on to Santo Domingo.  While approaching airport in Santo Domingo, I counted 16 baseball fields in the city, then a lot more on the bus.  They really do love baseball.  We took a nice two hour bus ride to La Romana.  We were told on the way that the double yellow lines on the road were merely suggestions.  At the Mission House we ate a wonderful dinner that was made for us and then planned for VBS tomorrow.  I can't wait to see God's work being done this week.
